Who is this course for?
Those who have previously attended and successfully passed the Lyon Equipment 4-day PPE Inspection Competent Person course and require re-certification.
For those who have attended and successfully passed the Lyon Equipment 4-day PPE Inspection Competent Person course within the preceding three years. This two day refresher and revalidation course covers development in legislation, equipment inspection techniques and equipment selection and provide candidates with the opportunity to renew their certificate for the next three years.
Prior to the course candidates will be required to complete an open book paper and provide a logbook record of all equipment inspections and PPE Competent Person tasks undertaken since their previous course.
Prerequisites
The candidate should have attended and passed the Lyon Equipment 4-day PPE Inspection Competent Person course and have regularly maintained their practical experience in the use and inspection of personal fall protection equipment such as that which is required to be examined. If there has been a period of inactivity, candidates should consider completing the full four day course again.
The revalidation course must be undertaken within the three year period since the last course. The minimum age of candidates is 18 years.

Course Content
The course includes both theory and practical training including candidate-led workshops and Q&A sessions. There is an end of course practical assessment.
Theoretical Knowledge
Updates on legislation and management systems
Revisit and develop equipment inspection techniques, storage methods and maintenance options
Confirmation and development of candidates’ underpinning knowledge
Practical Training
Review and develop practical inspection techniques
Development of candidates’ practical knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair
Candidate led inspection workshops
Assessment
Assessment is by satisfactory completion of the pre-course written paper and practical inspection of Personal Fall Protec- tion Equipment at the end of the course.
As with the 4-day PPE Inspection Competent Person Course, this is an externally verified assessment.
Successful candidates will receive their certificate only after this verification.
Certification
A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.
Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
