Who is this course for?

Workers experienced in personal work at height skills who may be required to undertake the rescue of an injured or incapacitated person using a rescue stretcher. 
Please note that this is an introductory course only.  Those requiring full rope rescue capability should consider our emergency services rope rescue programme.

This is a course for rope access technicians and workers who may be required to undertake the rescue of an injured or incapacitated person using a rescue stretcher.

Basic use of a rescue stretcher is combined with anchor selection, rigging and rescue system construction. Scenario based training is included and can be adapted to the customer’s specific needs. Techniques cover vertical, horizontal and variable stretcher positioning using a range of rescue systems.


Use Of Rescue Stretchers At Height Training Course

Prerequisites

  • Previous experience of work at height using fall arrest and work positioning lanyards
  • Medically fit and healthy
  • The minimum age of candidates is 18 years

Course Content

  • Review of relevant workplace legislation
  • Review of personal work at height skills
  • Principles of rescue stretcher use
  • Different types of rescue stretcher
  • Anchor system selection and construction
  • Stretcher rigging for vertical and horizontal lowers
  • Introduction to haul systems
  • Scenario based exercises involving basic stretcher lowering and raising
  • Medical considerations

Assessment

The course assessment is by short written test and continuous practical assessment by Lyon staff.

Certification

A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.  Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
