Qualification
A level 3 rope access supervisor shall be capable of taking complete responsibility for rope access safety during work projects and will be conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation. To be able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge of levels 1 and 2, have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques and the IRATA certification scheme and be familiar with the contents of the IRATA International Code of Practice.
Prerequisites
1000 hours and a minimum of 12 months experience as an IRATA level 2. This experience shall include a wide variety of work situations and techniques.
The minimum age of candidates is 18 years.
Candidates should be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely at height. They shall ensure that they have an adequate level of fitness, and are physically able to perform the tasks expected in terms of strength, agility and co-ordination, and are able to withstand the stresses of the working environment such as heat, cold, and other inclement weather. Candidates must hold a current First Aid Certificate.
Course Content
The course will cover all the skills and knowledge required of level 1 and 2 technicians The rescue and rigging techniques of level 1 and 2
Advanced rescue systems
Advanced pulley systems
Equipment inspection, documentation and maintenance
Worksite organisation and planning
During the course candidates will be required to demonstrate knowledge of a variety of work environments and experience of the topics being covered
Assessment
1 day independent practical assessment and written examination.
Certification
Upon successful completion the candidate will receive an internationally recognised certificate of competence in rope access, an IRATA log book, IRATA ID card and a copy of the IRATA ‘International Code of Practice’ and
‘Training Assessment and Certification scheme’.
All IRATA qualifications should be renewed within three years of the date of the assessment. Revalidation consists of a full assessment at the required level.
