IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician (Supervisor)

Who is this course for?

Current IRATA L2 technicians wishing to upgrade to L3 Rope Access Technician (safety supervisor) or current L3 Technicians wishing to revalidate their certification.

Qualification

A Level 3 Rope Access Supervisor shall be capable of taking complete responsibility for rope access safety during work projects and will be conversant with relevant work techniques and legislation. To be able to demonstrate all the skills and knowledge of levels 1 and 2, have a comprehensive knowledge of advanced rescue techniques and the IRATA certification scheme (TACS) and be familiar with the contents of the IRATA International Code of Practice (ICOP).

IRATA Level 3 Training Course

Prerequisites

To upgrade candidates require a minimum of 1000 hours and 12 months experience as an IRATA level 2 Technician. This experience shall include a wide variety of work situations and techniques.

Candidates should be physically fit and free from any disability or medical condition that may prevent them from working safely at height. (If unsure, please contact us)

Candidates must hold a current First Aid Certificate.

Candidates MUST have their IRATA logbook prior to the commencement of the training course. If the logbook has been lost a replacement must be obtained from IRATA with the hours verified before the course starts. Photo ID such as a drivers' licence or passport is also required for the assessment.

Course Content

The Level 3 course will cover all of the content included in the Level 1 and 2 courses plus:

  • Job Planning
  • Equipment selection
  • Risk assessment
  • Rescue scenarios and planning
  • Team Rescues
  • Complex rigging 

During the course candidates will be required to demonstrate a knowledge of a variety of work environments and experience of the topics being covered.

Assessment

1 day independent practical assessment and online theory examination.

Certification

Upon successful completion the candidate will receive an internationally recognised certificate of competence in rope access and IRATA ID card.

All IRATA qualifications should be renewed within three years of the date of the assessment.

Revalidation consists of a full assessment at the required level. If revalidation training and successful assessment are completed in the 180-day period prior to the expiry of a current certificate, a new certificate shall be issued with an expiry date three years from the date of expiry of the previous certificate.
