Who is this course for?

A course designed to meet the working at height needs of HART personnel who may be required to operate in locations involving a risk of falls from height. Includes the application of work restraint, work positioning and fall arrest techniques plus the use of basic rope access skills. A third day can be added to provide additional rescue skills and an awareness of two-line rescue systems as might be experienced during HART operations involving other rescue agencies.

Hazardous Area Response Team Safe Work at Height and Rescue Training Course

Prerequisites

This course is for HART personnel with an aptitude for working at height. Prior experience of working at height is an advantage but not essential.
Medically fit and healthy (if unsure please contact us)
The minimum age of candidates is 18 years

Course Content

A theoretical and practical course covering:

  • Legal requirements - Working at Height Regulations, Management Regulations (Risk Assessments), Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER), PPE regulations and CE marking Types of protection against falls from a height
  • Fall protection heirarchy
  • Types of access using personal fall protection equipment
  • Selection and types of personal fall protection equipment
  • Care, maintenance, inspection and disposal of personal fall protection equipment
  • PPE before-use checks
  • Fitting and adjustment of personal fall protection equipment
  • Use of personal fall protection equipment for work restraint and work positioning
  • Use of fall arrest lanyards for climbing and moving around a structure
  • Use of mobile fall arrest devices
  • Use of mobile horizontal lifelines for fall arrest and work restraint
  • Basic rope access skills for ascent and descent
  • Anchor selection and construction

Assessment

Practical scenario based assessment and short written test

Certification

A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.
Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
