This is a course for utilities company personnel who are qualified to work at height and are required to train others from their organisation in the procedures for co-worker rescue from wood poles and steel towers. The course covers the use of the Lyon Rescue Kit, Wooden Poles and Steel Towers.  It can frequently be delivered on site at the customer’s location and includes safe and effective use of the kit and additional measures required when training others in its use.

Pole & Tower Rescue Training

Prerequisites

  • Previous experience of work at height using fall arrest and work positioning lanyards
  • Medically fit and healthy
  • The minimum age of candidates is 18 years

Course Content

  • Review of relevant workplace legislation
  • Review of personal work at height skills
  • Pre-use checks for the Lyon Rescue Kit, Wooden Poles and Steel Towers
  • Assembly and principles of rescue kit use
  • Anchor system selection and construction
  • Stretcher rigging for vertical and horizontal lowers
  • Introduction to haul systems
  • Scenario based exercises involving basic stretcher lowering and raising
  • Medical considerations

Assessment

The course assessment is by short written test and continuous practical assessment by Lyon staff.

Certification

A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates.  Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
