Mast and tower climbers using fall arrest and work positioning techniques must be able to use the equipment in a safe manner and must be aware of the limitations of this equipment. We offer this course to provide industrial climbers with the detailed information they need to use a harness and lanyards safely and effectively. Training in rescue techniques using the Lyon Pick-Off Rescue Kit are also covered.

Prerequisites

Medically fit and healthy (if unsure, please contact us) The minimum age of candidates is 18 years

Course Content

  • Legislation
  • Correct fitting and adjustment of a range of full body harnesses Work positioning lanyards
  • Vertical access ladders with fitted vertical safety systems
  • A selection of fall protection systems such as fall arrest blocks Factors to be taken into account when using fall arrest techniques Use of permanent fall arrest systems
  • Climbing and moving around the structure
  • Equipment selection and inspection
  • Access techniques
  • Rigging safety lines
  • Rescue procedures and techniques

Assessment

The course assessment is by short written test and continuous practical assessment by Lyon staff.

Certification

A certificate of attendance and test and ID card record of training will be issued to successful candidates. Certificate valid for three years from date of assessment.
